It may be hidden behind the scenes at times, but engineering is a vital part of the work we do.
From maintaining current systems to designing and implementing brand new technology, our engineers are responsible for managing a smooth set up and then keeping everything running safely. This includes any immediate response needed to crisis situations following incidents that can hinder or even temporarily halt ATC operations – something our customers, be they airlines, airports or passengers demand.
To create a real business benefit for customers Engineering must reach far beyond technology and systems, and consider process design and people, so users can be trained to keep pace with change and supported with an infrastructure that will ultimately deliver greater efficiencies.
Malcolm Rae has first hand experience of a diverse range of engineering projects at NATS from a career now spanning more than 30 years. In this video he discusses the types of projects we’ve been involved in, and why engineering holds the key to the future success of the industry.
